Gucci / Bamboo Tote Bag. The Gucci Bamboo Handle bag first appeared in 1991, and like everything from the '90s, it's making a comeback under the name Gucci Diana. We've given you a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the Gucci Bamboo and while I already loved the extra touches of the bamboo handles, knowing the intricate work required to make those bamboo handles made me even more enamored with this bag. . . . I have already mentioned the intricate process of making bamboo handles, and combined with the beautiful materials the rest of this bag is made of, this is a winner. The artistic process that leads to the creation of bamboo handles is one of the most interesting processes in the creation of any bag. 
The shape is neither new nor extraordinary, but the bamboo handles make it stand out and wink at the brand's history without feeling dated. Dyed in a cool ebony color, it is stitched with a leather thread running through the top of the bag and connected to a matching bamboo clasp. This new interpretation, handmade, indicates a sophistication slightly different from the pure tradition of Gucci. During their 2013 Pre-Fall collection, Gucci officially unveils the New Bamboo line on the runways. And the canvas model is adorned with the GG monogram, showcasing Gucci's biggest feature. The new GUCCI now has a fabric tag with a QR code in addition to the leather one. 
Following bags such as Salvatore Ferragamo and Lady D, Tods D and Dior Lady Dior, the bag, now officially rebranded as the Gucci Diana, was re-released last year with a series of special designs by contemporary artists. The Gucci Diana, redesigned by Alessandro Michele, deviates from its original design by introducing (no pun intended) new detachable shoulder straps in neon leather, reminiscent of the functional straps used to secure the handles in the original version. Unlike the original neon leather strap that was fastened around the bamboo handle - a nod to the functional straps of the 90s that kept the wooden handle intact - the new high-visibility strap has an interchangeable fluorine replacement.
